Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future after a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

The manager lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell like this with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
