Close to 25,000 Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Weather Systems
Around twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the state, bringing powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, around one thousand residents in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received over five hundred calls for help across the area, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

During the peak on the previous day, in excess of 28k energy customers in the state were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both regions.
Safety Concern
Medical authorities warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after past events where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the state.
